Kemi Olunloyo Urges Tonto Dikeh to “Leave Churchill Alone” as Online Debate Erupts

Nigerian journalist and social commentator Kemi Olunloyo has reignited a long-standing controversy involving Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh and her ex-husband, Olakunle Oladunni Churchill, after calling on the actress to “move on” nearly a decade after their separation.

In a recent video that went viral online, Olunloyo accused Dikeh of repeatedly using her ex-husband’s name to gain attention and divert public focus from ongoing allegations linking her to a celebrity WhatsApp group connected to the late singer Mohbad’s case.

The dispute traces back to claims made by social media personality VeryDarkMan, who alleged that Tonto Dikeh was part of a private group chat formed after Mohbad’s death. He shared what he described as leaked messages suggesting that Dikeh downplayed the importance of the autopsy, allegedly stating that “the autopsy is not our goal.”

Olunloyo referenced these claims while reacting to a post by X user @alimasadia_, asserting that Dikeh was trying to “distract the public” by bringing up issues involving Churchill, from whom she divorced almost ten years ago. “Tonto should stop dragging Churchill’s name into her issues,” Olunloyo said, adding that both parties have since moved on with their lives and children.

She also pointed out that Churchill is now remarried and has been a responsible father to his kids, while Tonto Dikeh has allegedly denied him access to their son. “They both seem happy in their separate lives. It’s time to let go and live in peace,” Olunloyo concluded.

The comments have sparked heated discussions across social media, with many users weighing in on both sides of the debate. Some criticized Dikeh for continuing to reference her ex-husband, arguing that it shows lingering resentment, while others defended her right to speak about her past experiences.

“Tonto and Churchill’s story has dragged on for a decade,” one user wrote. “At this point, both should let the past rest.” Others, however, noted that Dikeh has been through public scrutiny and emotional trauma, urging compassion in how her story is discussed.

The former couple, whose relationship ended in a highly publicized breakup in 2016, share a son together. Despite years of public spats, fans continue to call for reconciliation—or at least mutual silence—between the two.

As the online debate grows, Olunloyo’s remarks have once again brought to the surface one of Nollywood’s most talked-about celebrity feuds, showing that even ten years later, the Dikeh–Churchill saga still captures public attention.
