Divorce-seeking Wife Ordered To Return N80,000 Dowry By Kaduna Court
A Kaduna State Sharia Court judge, Muhammed Adamu- Shehu on Thursday ordered Fatima Muhammed, a divorce seeking woman to refund her dowry of N80,000 to her husband for the dissolution of their union.
The judge also advised her to file another suit for the purposes of claiming custody of their three year old child.
The woman had earlier told the court that she was no longer interested in the union and she is ready to comply with the necessary settlement.
“I am tired of the union and I can not be an obedient wife to him. I prayed the court to grant me custody of our three-year-old daughter.” Fatima said.
The defendant however protested through his counsel, L.R Ibrahim that he still loved his wife and was opposed to the dissolution, asking the court to give him more time to settle out of court.
