How Bobrisky’s attempt to cross Seme border failed- Witnesses
New information has surfaced regarding the arrest of popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, at the Seme Border on Monday.
According to witnesses who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria, Bobrisky arrived at the border’s departure area around 1:30 a.m. in a black Mercedes Benz SUV. Sources indicated that he was initially stopped by Port Health officials, but the driver continued until reaching the Immigration checkpoint.
“Idris handed his passport to the driver for stamping at the Nigeria Immigration Service post. While reviewing the passport, an immigration surveillance officer named Yusuf recognized Bobrisky,” one witness reported.
The officer then called in the senior officer on duty and discreetly summoned Mr. Muhammad Adamu, the Controller of Immigration at Seme Command. The surveillance officer subsequently invited Bobrisky for processing so his passport could be stamped.
Once they arrived at the surveillance unit for processing, Bobrisky was taken to the controller’s office for questioning, according to another source.
The source also mentioned that Bobrisky’s lawyer later visited Seme to find out the reasons behind his arrest by immigration personnel. “Bobrisky remained in the controller’s office until around 4:00 p.m., when he was transferred to the Lagos State Command of NIS for further investigation,” the source added.
The NIS confirmed Bobrisky’s arrest at the Seme Border on the same day. The service’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kenneth Udo, stated that Bobrisky was taken into custody as a “person of interest regarding recent public concerns.”
In a statement released in Abuja, Udo said, “In line with our commitment to border security, NIS intercepted Bobrisky at the Seme Border over an attempt to leave the country.” He noted that Bobrisky is currently undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further action.
