Iyabo Ojo addresses allegations of complicity in Mohbad’s demise.
Iyabo Ojo, a Nollywood actress, talks candidly about the criticism she received for her advocacy in support of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known by her stage name Mohbad.
Iyabo revealed in a recent Glass House interview with AY Makun that she was charged with Mohbad’s murder and accused of taking advantage of his untimely death to further her influence.
The actress, however, emphasised that her intentions were honest and refuted the accusations.
She reiterated her dedication to the cause in spite of the attacks, saying, “I am genuinely interested in getting justice for Mohbad.” The mother of two claims, “They were even suggesting that I might have killed Mohbad.”
When Mohbad passed away, I wasn’t present. He and I weren’t close. I don’t really know him.”
“I met him at the One Africa music festival.” During our little time together, I only knew that he was a cool guy who was doing his music and going through his own thing.”
“Why was I battling for his body to be exhumed for an examination if I killed him? They claimed that I had once received payment [for my activism in securing justice for Mohbad”.
“They also claimed that I was seeking a political job and that I was using it to gain influence. I’ve been the subject of a lot of statements.”
“However, that isn’t the case, therefore I’m not bothered. I only assisted in the singer’s pursuit of justice.”
