Jim Rosenfield was born and brought up in the United States of America. He always loved television broadcasting from a young age as he picked interest in journalism from watching the news regularly. Fueled with a desire to tow the path of his favorite television broadcasters, he enrolled at Duke University for a degree in journalism and earned his degree in 1981.

As soon as he graduated from Duke University, Rosenfield started his news career in 1981, particularly at WTVD-TV in Durham, in North Carolina where he was employed as a general assignment reporter.

He later moved to KTRK-TV in Houston and worked there as a reporter for some time before switching his role to anchor. After a short while, Jim moved to Chicago and joined WLS-TV where he became a correspondent and weekend anchor at WLS-TV.

Seventeen years after he started working as a journalist, Jim Rosenfield moved to New York and found employment at WCBS-TV, where he co-hosted the 5 pm newscast with Lisa Cooley (later known as Lisa Hill), and the noon newscast with Cindy Hsu.

Following a contract dispute in April 2000, he left WCBS and joined rival station WNBC-TV. Here, he combined with Sue Simmons and co-anchored the 5 pm broadcast (“Live at Five”). In 2005, he left WNBC and returned to WCBS to replace Ernie Anastos who had left WCBS for a 5-year multi-million contract at WNYW-TV.

In June 2012, Rosenfield joined WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., and worked at this station as a weekend news anchor. In September the following year, he moved to WCAU-TV in Philadelphia and has been working at the station as a weeknight anchor at 4, 6, and 11 p.m.
