He is also an heir to his grandfather’s establishment, the Stryker Corporation, which is one of the most successful companies in the United States today.

An Alumnus of the University of California in Berkeley, Jon Stryker currently serves as the President of Depot Landmark LLC which concentrates on the renovation and restoration of historical buildings.

Jon Stryker earned his bachelor’s degree in biology in 1982 when he graduated from Kalamazoo College. He then attended the University of California, Berkeley for a master’s degree in architecture.

He is a registered architect who plies his trade in Michigan, and as of this writing, he serves as the president of Depot Landmark, a company that focuses on the renovation of historic buildings.

His grandfather Homer Stryker established the medical device and technology company Stryker Corporation which the family sold in 2017 for $12.4 billion. Jon is the brother of Pat Stryker and Ronda Stryker.

Their family has been listed as the 31st richest family in the United States. In 2000, Jon Stryker established the Arcus Foundation. The organization has been identified by the Washington Blade as the largest LGBT funder in the United States.

A report by Inside Philanthropy names the organization as the largest funder of great ape preservation. The Arcus Foundation has offices in Cambridge, England, and in New York and Michigan in the United States.

The Stryker family set up the Coalition for Progress political action committee and it became the largest PAC in Michigan State’s history as of 2006. When the family still owned 30 percent of Stryker Corp., Jon was a public advocate for the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare.

Stryker first became a part of the Global Philanthropists Circle as a member in 2011.  He gave Kalamazoo College the sum of $20 million to set up the Jon L. Stryker Future Leaders Scholarship Program dedicated to helping students with financial needs as well as increasing diversity on campus.

He previously donated over $10 million to the school’s diversity enrollment efforts. His non-profit organization, Arcus Foundation, donated $25 million to Kalamazoo College to establish the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership.
