She is occasionally substituted for presenter Diane Rehm on The Diane Rehm Show airing on NPR.
Until 2009, she blogged on the website, True/Slant. She made a brief appearance, in 2018, in the National Geographic documentary series “Mars”. To also mention, Kay presented coverage of the United States Presidential Election nights across all platforms of BBC in 2016 and 2020, on both occasions presenting alongside Andrew Neil. In 2021 she anchored the BBC’s reportage of the Presidential inauguration of United States president Joe Biden. On 24 June 2021, she announced that the day’s broadcast was her last for the BBC.
