Keith Urban is a popular songwriter, singer and record producer from New Zealand. He released his first album in 1991 and has gone on to release many popular albums and singles in a career spanning three decades. Keith is well known for singles like “But For the Grace of God”, “Somebody Like You”, “You’ll Think of Me”, “Break on Me ” and “Wasted Time”.
Urban has 11 studio albums to his credit, he has also charted 37 singles on the US Hot Country Songs Chart, with 18 going to number one. He has also won 4 Grammys and several other awards for exploits in his career.
Early Life & Beginning
Keith Lionel Urban was born on 26th October, 1967 in Whangarei, New Zealand to Marienne and Robert Urban. His dad owned a convenience store and he lived with his parents in Queensland, Australia.
Keith’s interest in music started growing when his dad hired a guitar teacher for his music lessons and he began competing at local competitions. He also acted in a local theatre company. According to Keith, his guitar playing was largely influenced by two rock players, Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac) and Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits).
Urban contested on the Australian TV talent show “New Faces” in 1983 and few years later began making inroads into the Australian Country music scene. He made regular appearances on various TV programs like the Reg Lindsay Country Homestead TV Program. Urban was a member of a band called “Kids Country” and they performed during schools holidays at various venues . They also made appearances on some popular TV shows.
Career and Professional Life
Keith signed with EMI Australia in 1990 and released his self-titled studio album “Keith Urban”. He appeared on “ Breaking Ground – New Directions in Country Music “ which was a 1990 compilation album that got nominated for the 1991 ARIA Award for Best Country Album.
In 1992, Keith moved to Nashville, Tennessee in the United States of America. The following year, he made an appearance on Alan Jackson’s music video for song “Mercury Blues”. He also received writing credits on songs for Toby Keith, 4 Runner and Raybon Brothers.
Urban teamed up with drummer, Peter Clarke and bassist, Jerry Flowers to form a band known as “The Ranch” in 1997. The band released a self-titled album for Capitol Records Nashville and also charted two singles, “Walkin’ the Country” and “Just Some Love”, on the Hot Country Songs Chart. Urban in addition played guitar on albums of other artists such as Tim Wilson, Paul Jefferson, Charlie Daniels and other throughout the late 1990s.
In 1999, Keith Urban released his self-titled American debut album produced by Matt Rollings. The album was successful and helped him make history by becoming the first male New Zealand performer to reach the Top 10 on US country charts. He also scored his first number 1 hit on the charts with song “But for the Grace of God”. Urban also won awards with this album including “Top New Male vocalist Award” at the 2001 Academy of Country Music Awards and “Horizon Award” from the Country Music Association.
Urban has done a lot of tours in his career. He was part of “Raise Em Up Tour “ in 2014 and also “Get Closer 2011 World tour” and the “ripcord World Tour” in 2016.

On June 2006, Urban got married to Australian actress, Nicole Kidman and they have two kids, Маrgаrеt Кіdmаn аnd Ѕundау Rоѕе Кіdmаn Urbаn. He met his wife at a Hollywood event promoting Australia in 2005 and they began dating 6 months later.
