Marcus Anthony Lemonis was born in war-torn Beirut, Lebanon on November 16, 1973. After he lost his birth family during the civil war, he was adopted by a Greek family that was living in Miami, Florida, United States. His adoptive parents, Leo Lemonis and Sophia Lemonis, took care of him like their own child and made sure he never lacked a thing.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in criminology upon his graduation from Marquette University in Milwaukee in 1995.
Career & Business Ventures
Two years after his graduation from college, Marcus Lemonis got a job at AutoNation in 1997. While there, he held several sales and managerial roles, giving his best and learning the ways of efficiently handling businesses.

He moved on to Holiday RV Superstores Inc. and became its chief executive officer in 2001. However, he got bored with working for others and felt the urge to establish his own business and run it how he wanted, so he teamed up with a fellow entrepreneur and co-founded FreedomRoads. In 2006, following negotiations, the company merged with Camping World and Marcus also became the chief executive officer of the new company which later merged with Good Sam Enterprises in 2011, with Lemonis still maintaining his position as chief executive officer.
Marcus teamed up with NASCAR in 2004, and they launched the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Fast forward to 2016, Camping World became public and the enterprise was valued at $2 billion.
