Norah O’Donnell is a successful American television journalist. She is a presenter of the CBS Evening News and also a correspondent for 60 Minutes. A graduate of Georgetown University.

She was born Norah Morahan O’Donnell on January 23, 1974, in Washington, D.C., in the United States. Her parents are Francis Lawrence O’Donnell and Noreen Bernadette (O’Kane).

Norah’s father was a doctor and United States Army officer. Her parents are of Irish descent with roots in Donegal, Belfast, and Derry.

Her maternal grandfather resided in America illegally for 16 years and three of her grandparents were immigrants. She was three years old when her family relocated to San Antonio, Texas. When she was 10 years old, the family moved to Seoul where they spent two years living in Yongsan Garrison throughout the time her father was stationed to work there.

While an elementary student, Norah started her career in broadcasting by providing videotaped English lectures for the Korean Educational Development Institute. She moved back to San Antonio with her family and joined Douglas MacArthur High School.

After her graduation from high school in 1991, she moved on to enroll at Georgetown University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy in 1995. Likewise in 2003, she also obtained a Master of Arts degree in liberal studies from the same institution.

Norah has been married to her supportive husband Geoff Tracy since June 2001. He is a restaurateur and the owner of the D.C. restaurant Chef Geoff’s. The couple met while attending Georgetown and fell in love with each other.

The journalist and her restaurateur husband live together in Washington, D.C., and New York City’s Upper West Side neighborhood. They became the parents of twins named Grace and Henry on May 20, 2007. Their third child, daughter Riley, was born on July 5, 2008.
