Peter Obi urges Nigerians not to allow criminals to dictate their actions at Zamfara University.
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has responded to the abduction of school girls from the Federal University, Gusau.
The incident occurred when gunmen suspected to be bandits raided the Sabon-Gida community in the Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where several university students were living. Reports of the exact number of kidnapped students are still unknown.
In order for us to live in a harmonious society, Obi urged Nigerians to reject the influence of criminals and bandits in dictating the rules we live by. He emphasized the need to protect our nation from being destroyed by these individuals.
Obi expressed his firm belief that ensuring the safety and security of Nigeria should be the primary focus in his vision of a New Nigeria. He stated that he is confident that a secure and stable Nigeria is attainable.
A group known as the Joint Task Force of Operation Hadarin Daji has successfully saved an additional seven female students from the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State.
The students were kidnapped by bandits who attacked the university and seized over 20 students from their rented lodge in the Sabon Gida, Bungudu LGA of the state on Friday.
Zagazola Makama, a publication that concentrates on counter-insurgency in the Lake Chad region, disclosed that the seven students were rescued in addition to three male employees of Gupran Engineering Zervices Ltd.
On the same Friday, the troops successfully rescued six female students. This brings the total number of rescued students to 13 thus far. The names of the students who have been freed are listed below:

- Merry Monday: Studying MCB in 300 Level
- Maryam Salawuddeen: Studying Accounting in 300 Level at Osun
- Salamatu Jummai Dahiru: Studying MCB in 200 Level
- Fiddausi Abdulazeez: Studying Biology in Education in 200 Level
- Amamatullahi Asabe Dahiru: Studying Education Chemistry in 200 Level
- Ketora Bulus Education: Studying Physics in 100 Level at Kaduna
- Felicia Sunday: Studying Computer Science in 200 Level at Osun
- Jamila Ahmad: Studying BCH in 200 Level at Kogi
- Aisha Aminu Ujong: Graduated with a degree in Education Physics from Cross River
- Mariya Abdulrahman Usman: Studying English in 400 Level at Katsina
- Usaina Abdulrahman Education: Studying English in 100 Level at Katsina
- Saadatu Aminu Abubakar: Studying Education Biology
