Phyno is a Nigerian rapper, producer and songwriter. He is one of the most prolific indigenous rappers on the Nigerian music scene as he raps mainly in his native Igbo language. He is a strong brand in the Afrobeats industry and has sold out local and international shows.
BIOGRAPHY
He was born on the 9th of October, 1986 in Enugu State of Nigeria; but originally an indigene of Anambra State. He was christened Azubuike Chibuzor Nelson and was described as being phenomenal by his friend which is how his stage name, Phyno came about.
Phyno was the fourth out of five children and he planned on being a pilot while growing up but destiny had other plans for him. While in secondary school, he began to learn and experiment on rudiments of music production and then he began to produce while studying Public Administration at the Institute of Technology and Management (IMT), Enugu. In a twist of fate he transformed into a rapper and started rapping real good in his native Igbo dialect, even though he had people that he looked up to in the music industry like Nigga Raw, who inspired him to rap in his native tongue.
His style invariably opened up a whole new chapter for him in the music scene. In 2010, he migrated to Lagos State, the heart beat of entertainment to pursue his music career.
