Runtown, full name, Douglas Jack Agu is a Nigerian songwriter, singer, stage performer, record producer, and recording artiste. He has earned his flowers in the Afrobeat movement as he can be regarded and one of those artist who turned up massive hits, making the Nigerian music more interesting to the rest of the world.

BIOGRAPHY

He was born on the 19th of August 1989 in Enugu State. Nevertheless, despite been born in Enugu, he actually did his early years and primary education in Lagos. With the death of his father, he relocated to Abuja with his mother who at that time worked with the Ministry of Health. It would interest you to know that Runtown never did have dreams to become a singer but actually wanted to become a professional basketball player.

At the completion of his secondary school education, he gained entry into the St Augustine’s Seminary, Ezzamgbo but did not go through with it. Instead, he enrolled at a fashion school in New York, the United States where he studied Fashion Management.

CAREER

In 2007, he began his music career when he first moved to Lagos alongside Phyno from Enugu. Upon his arrival to Lagos, he was featured by many top artists including J-Martins and Timaya.

His first album was released in 2007 “Runtown” and in 2010; he released another album called “Forever” which was accompanied by a music video.

In 2014, he released a music single titled “Gallardo” which gained popularity. In this video he featured Davido and with this album came the multi-million naira recording contract with Eric Manny Entertainment.

In 2015, he released yet another album which was considered his debut album titled “Ghetto University” which featured popular artistes like Phyno, Wizkid, Uhuru, Anli and DJ Khaled.

In 2016, he released another hit single “Mad over you” which gained so much popularity as well as staying at the top of the billboard chat for several months. Runtown is a formidable force in the Music Industry with many favorite songs and albums in the work.
