“Eating Was A Problem For Me” – Eniola Ajao Recalls How She Dealt With Fake News

Eniola Ajao, a popular Yoruba actor and director, talks up about the devastating emotional impact that online fake news had on her, nearly driving her to self-harm.

In an open interview with Nollywood on Radio, Ajao discussed how damaging rumours on social media caused a personal crisis, affecting both her mental health and social life.

“I almost poisoned myself after reading false news about me on social media. It was the first time I had experienced something so agonising that I couldn’t eat for seven days.

I did not go anywhere. “People around me can attest to it,” she stated.

The impact was so deep that Ajao withdrew totally, unable to eat or socialise for seven days.

“My sisters were calling and telling me, ‘You must do this for yourself. You don’t need to poison yourself.

My kid informed everyone that I was battling with the online lies,” she explained. It’s worth recalling that the actress once received harsh social media outrage for crowning the controversial crossdresser Bobrisky as the most dressed female at her movie premiere.

Notably, she later clarified that it was all part of the advertising campaign for the film.

Recall, in May 2024, Eniola Ajao, a Nollywood actress, told the world how she nearly killed herself after deceptive news was spread about her.

During an interview with The Tribune Newspaper, the actress stated that she nearly poisoned herself after false information was published about her.

According to her, she starved herself for seven days, which concerned others around her, especially her sister and kid. She made no mention of the phoney news that was published about her.

“I almost poisoned myself because something about me was posted online. The news about me was far from accurate. I didn’t eat for around seven days, and everyone around me can attest to this.”

“I couldn’t move anyplace. This occurred about the same time as I was planning my film. My sister, my kid, and everyone else called me because the story came out of nowhere, and I was devastated.”
