‘Adire’ Bags Many Awards At Nollywood Award Show

“Adire is still showing on Netflix; watch now,” the message stated. Emmanuel Igbekele Odihiri, who served as the project’s Director of Photography, is an experienced DOP with a number of credits.
Some of his works include Looking for Baami, Soole, Breaded Life, Ajosepo, Japa, and Far From Home, a Netflix series.
Recall that the film received four nominations at the Best of Nollywood Awards, including Best Cinematography, Best Actress, Best Costume, and Best Production Design. Adire premiered on Netflix on January 13, 2024, earning ₦8 million in its first weekend.
The BON Awards, presented by Best of Nollywood Magazine, are an annual film event with over 30 categories that recognise great achievements in the Nollywood industry.
The first edition was held in 2009.Adire depicts the life of a young female fashion entrepreneur played by Kehinde Bankole, who had a dark background as a sex worker and must now deal with the consequences.
It was completely created and written by Jack’enneth Opukeme, who also acted in the film.
Other films awarded include Jagun Jagun, which swept 6 awards including Best Costume, Best Indigenous Film, Best Production Design, Best Special Effects, and the Director of the Year for Femi Adebayo and Bayo Tijani.
