The Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN), in partnership with the Sanitation and Hygiene Fund (SHF), has opened applications for the DBN-SHF Capacity Building Programme for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) operating in the sanitation and hygiene sector.

The programme is designed to support businesses that provide sanitation, hygiene, and waste management services by helping them improve their business structure, financial readiness, and access to funding opportunities.

According to the organisers, the initiative will provide participating businesses with training, mentorship, networking opportunities, and business support aimed at helping them grow more effectively.

The programme is open to MSMEs involved in areas such as:

  • Sanitation services
  • Hygiene products and solutions
  • Waste management
  • Cleaning and environmental services
  • Other sanitation-related businesses

Participants are expected to receive support in areas including:

  • Business development
  • Financial management
  • Funding readiness
  • Industry guidance
  • Networking with experts and stakeholders

DBN and SHF said the programme is aimed at helping businesses become more organised and better prepared to access investment and financing opportunities.

The organisers also noted that many small businesses in the sanitation sector struggle with access to funding and business support, despite providing important services within communities.

Businesses looking to expand operations, improve internal systems, or strengthen their financial structure are encouraged to apply.
