The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has removed the second-leg match in Group D of the ongoing 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Libya’s Mediterranean Knights from its schedule.

Originally set to kick off in Libya at 8 PM, this match followed the first leg, which took place at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday, where the Super Eagles secured a 1-0 victory in the closing moments of the game.

The return fixture has become mired in controversy after Super Eagles players and officials recounted their harrowing experience of being stranded for over 14 hours at a Libyan airport, ultimately leading them to return to Nigeria.

In response to the situation, CAF has initiated an investigation following allegations of sabotage from the Libya Football Federation, which has also threatened legal action against Nigeria.

Additionally, CAF updated its schedule for matches to be played on Tuesday, notably excluding the Libya versus Nigeria game from the list.

More details will be provided later.
