BREAKING: Remove defamatory posts on Falana, Falz, pay N500m, court orders verydarkman
The Lagos State High Court has mandated social media commentator Martin Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, to delete defamatory posts and videos about lawyer and human rights advocate Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, Folarin. The court also ordered him to pay N500 million in damages for libel, as outlined in the pre-action judgment bundle.
Justice M. O. Idowu issued the ruling on Tuesday in case no: ID/8584/GCM/2024. He determined that VeryDarkMan’s posts on September 24, 2024, which connected Bobrisky to Falz and his father, were defamatory and damaging to their reputations.
Dawodu remarked, “The applicants (Falz and Falana) asserted that the defendant (VeryDarkMan) was aware these statements (regarding Bobrisky) were false yet chose to publish them, intending to harm their reputations. Additionally, the defamatory content continues to circulate on the defendant’s various online platforms, perpetuating the damage to their reputation as long as it remains available.”
Further details will be provided soon.
