Falz Reveals Real Motivation Behind Studying Law Like His Father
During an interview with Chude Jideonwo for the With Chude podcast, he revealed that growing up, he was inspired by the individuals his father, Femi Falana SAN, touched and fought for.
He stated, “I won’t say there was pressure, but when I was really young, it was like, ‘These guys had to be somebody’ because I was already receiving that reaction everywhere I went.
And if I ever revealed my name, people would ask, “Which Falana?” Is this Femi Falana? “Oh wow.”
“Everyone kind of told a story about how my dad fought for them and was there for them at some point, and how he came to their aid.”
I was absorbing everything at the moment, thinking, “This is something.” Therefore, I didn’t feel under pressure at that time; instead, I wanted to accomplish what he was doing,” he continued.
This acknowledgement had a lasting impact on him, and he resolved to study law on his own, even if he only practiced for a brief time.
“I practiced law for a little length of time. It’s just been almost two years. I worked at the Ministry of Justice during my youth service, which was about 2012 or so, then in 2013 I was at my father’s firm, and 2014 was when things began to pick up for me, so I started going out of practise’, he added in between chuckles.
Still on Falz, in an audio clip that circulated online, Bobrisky said he hired Falz’s help to seek a presidential pardon, adding that the procedure involved considerable payments to Falana.
The requests are in response to a letter sent by Falana’s legal team on Monday, October 14, 2024, following audio recordings leaked by media critic Martin Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.
In the clip, Bobrisky claims he requested ₦10 million for a pardon and ₦3 million from Falz for preferential treatment at Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
