The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has released a new update on its ongoing recruitment exercise, saying the process has now reached its final stages and is expected to be completed within four weeks.

The update is important for applicants who have been following the recruitment process since the application stage and have already gone through the Computer-Based Test (CBT), shortlist and physical screening/document verification stages.

In a statement dated 21 August 2026, the Board acknowledged the large number of applications received and said it is taking steps to ensure that the final selection is based on merit, federal character, due process and the operational needs of the four services.

The Board said successful candidates will be informed through the official CDCFIB recruitment portal once the process is completed.

CDCFIB Recruitment 2026 Latest Update

The latest CDCFIB announcement does not introduce a new application window.

Instead, it concerns applicants who are already part of the ongoing recruitment exercise.

According to the Board, the recruitment process has reached its last stages and these stages are expected to be completed within four weeks.

The Board also said it does not want to rush the process at the expense of a fair selection.

This means applicants should be careful about social media posts claiming that a new shortlist, final list or appointment list has already been released unless the information can be confirmed through the official portal.

When Will CDCFIB Recruitment Be Completed?

CDCFIB said the final stages of the recruitment exercise will be completed within four weeks from the 21 August 2026 announcement.

That gives applicants a broad expected completion period extending into September 2026.

However, applicants should not treat a specific September date as a confirmed appointment or final-list release date. The Board has only stated that the process will be completed within four weeks.

Once the process is completed, candidates will be notified through the official recruitment platform.

How the CDCFIB Recruitment Process Got to This Stage

The current recruitment exercise has been running for more than a year and has passed through several stages.

Understanding the timeline is useful because applicants are now waiting for the final outcome rather than another general application exercise.

Application Stage

The recruitment process began with online applications for positions across the four paramilitary services under CDCFIB.

The recruitment was initially affected by technical problems and changes to the application schedule before the application portal eventually closed.

The exercise attracted a very large number of applications. Reports at the time put the number at around 1.9 million applications, with recruitment planned for 30,000 positions across the four services.

Initial Screening and Shortlisting

After applications closed, CDCFIB screened the applications and moved qualified candidates to the next stage.

The Board subsequently released shortlisted candidates through its recruitment portal.

Applicants were instructed to check their status through the official CDCFIB portal rather than relying on messages from agents or unofficial recruitment websites.

CBT Stage

Shortlisted applicants proceeded to the Computer-Based Test stage.

The CBT was conducted in November 2025. The Ministry of Interior later confirmed that candidates who participated in the CBT were the applicants considered for the subsequent physical screening and document verification stage.

Physical Screening and Document Verification

The recruitment later moved to physical screening and document verification.

In June 2026, CDCFIB instructed candidates who participated in the CBT to check their status on the recruitment portal and, where applicable, select their screening venue and date.

This stage was important because candidates had to provide and verify their credentials and meet the required physical and documentation conditions.

Final Selection Stage

The latest August 2026 update indicates that the exercise has now reached its last stages.

CDCFIB says the final process is being handled with consideration for:

  • Merit
  • Federal character
  • Due process
  • The manpower needs of each service
  • Other operational requirements

The Board says candidates will be informed through the recruitment platform after the process is completed.

Which Services Are Covered by the CDCFIB Recruitment?

The recruitment exercise covers four federal paramilitary services:

1. Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)

The NSCDC is one of the four services under CDCFIB and is responsible for duties including civil protection and the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.

2. Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)

The NIS handles immigration-related responsibilities, including border management and the administration of immigration laws.

3. Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS)

The NCoS is responsible for custodial and non-custodial correctional services in Nigeria.

4. Federal Fire Service (FFS)

The Federal Fire Service handles fire prevention, response and related emergency responsibilities.

The official CDCFIB recruitment portal identifies these four services as the participating agencies in the exercise.

What Should CDCFIB Applicants Do Now?

Applicants who have already participated in the recruitment exercise should continue monitoring the official recruitment portal.

There is no new application to complete based on the latest announcement.

Instead, applicants should:

  1. Visit the official CDCFIB recruitment portal regularly.
  2. Check their application status when instructed.
  3. Watch for information concerning the final selection.
  4. Keep their application details available.
  5. Avoid relying on unofficial recruitment lists circulating on WhatsApp, Facebook or Telegram.
  6. Do not pay anyone claiming to have access to the final list.

The Board has previously warned applicants about false information and instructed candidates to rely only on the official recruitment portal and verified CDCFIB communication channels.

Where Will Successful Candidates Be Notified?

CDCFIB says candidates will be informed through its official recruitment platform after the final stages are completed.

Applicants should therefore use the official portal:

CDCFIB Recruitment Portal

The portal currently provides an option for applicants to check their application status.

Will CDCFIB Release Another Shortlist?

The latest statement does not announce a new shortlist release date.

It says the recruitment process has reached its final stages and that candidates will be informed through the recruitment platform once the process is completed.

Applicants should therefore avoid treating unofficial “final shortlist” PDFs or social media graphics as genuine CDCFIB documents.

A genuine update should be traceable to the Board’s official communication channels.

Does the Four-Week Update Mean Everyone Who Passed Screening Will Be Recruited?

No.

The Board’s statement does not say that every candidate who reached the physical screening or document verification stage will receive an appointment.

It says the final selection will take account of merit, federal character, due process and the operational requirements of the four services.

This means reaching a later stage of the recruitment process should not be treated as a guarantee of final employment.

Is CDCFIB Recruitment Still Ongoing?

Yes. The latest Board statement confirms that the recruitment process is still being completed and has reached its final stages.

The Board expects the remaining stages to be completed within four weeks from its 21 August 2026 announcement.

This is different from saying that a new recruitment application is currently open.

The existing exercise is the one applicants should continue to follow.

Is the CDCFIB Recruitment Portal Still Important?

Yes.

The recruitment portal remains the main platform for applicants to check recruitment information and application status.

The official portal states that applicants can use their application details to check their current status. It also warns that only one service could be selected during the application process and that no payment is required at any stage.

Important Warning About CDCFIB Recruitment Scams

The long waiting period has created an opportunity for fraudsters to target applicants.

Do not pay anyone who claims to have:

  • The CDCFIB final list
  • An appointment slot
  • A connection with CDCFIB officials
  • The ability to change your recruitment status
  • Access to undisclosed recruitment results
  • A guaranteed place in NSCDC, NIS, NCoS or FFS

CDCFIB has repeatedly warned applicants about false information and unofficial recruitment channels.

The recruitment portal also states that no payment is required at any stage of the recruitment process.
