Dolly Parton Declares Intention To Donate Relief Funds
Dolly Parton made a substantial $1 million donation to aid in the recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene’s devastation of the Southeast United States in September.
Speaking about the donation at a Tennessee event, the “9 to 5” singer disclosed that the funds will come “from my own bank account,” with some of her own companies, such as Dollywood contributing the same sum to the Mountain Ways Foundation in order to help with the aftermath.
The musician stated: “There’s a lot to be done and we’re trying to find even more ways to raise more funds. It’s going to take a lot of money, as you know, so like I said, we’re trying to find new other ways to make money.” Additionally, it will take a while.”
She also mentioned how the experience caused her to consider her childhood home, stating, “These are my rivers, flowing like a stream.”
“They are my folks. These rainbows the colour of mountains, these are my people, this is my home.
I just want you to know that I am entirely with you, ’cause I am part of you. I cherish you.Hurricane Helene struck Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and other states in September, leaving hundreds of people missing and over 200 people dead.”
The effect also swept thousands of homes, which have been left devastated by the impact or left without power and energy.
