The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced recruitment for qualified candidates to fill various positions across its operations in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Onne, Warri and Calabar.
The recruitment is open to applicants with qualifications ranging from secondary school certificates to OND, HND and degree-level qualifications, depending on the position.
Available Positions
The positions advertised include:
- Pilot Trainee – JSS 2 (GL 06)
- Marine Engineering Trainee – JSS 2 (GL 06)
- Trainee Seaman – JSS 3 (GL 04)
- Signalman-in-Training – JSS 3 (GL 04)
- Radio Officer II – SSS 4 (GL 08)
- Assistant Manager, Radio – SSS 1 (GL 12)
- Marine Officer II – SSS 4 (GL 08)
- Senior Marine Officer/Engineer – SSS 2 (GL 10)
- Assistant Manager, Harbours – SSS 1 (GL 12)
Qualifications
Pilot Trainee and Marine Engineering Trainee
Applicants should have:
- Minimum of OND in Nautical Science or Marine Engineering
- Seafarers Medical Certificate of Fitness
- Relevant mandatory certificates
- WAEC or equivalent
- ICT knowledge will be an added advantage
- Age between 20 and 27 years
Trainee Seaman and Signalman-in-Training
Applicants should have at least five credits in science subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
Applicants must have obtained their certificates within the last eight years.
ICT knowledge is an added advantage, while applicants should be between 18 and 25 years old.
Radio Officer II and Assistant Manager, Radio
Applicants require a BSc or HND in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Information Technology, as applicable, alongside relevant STCW 95 and GMDSS certifications.
The Assistant Manager, Radio position also requires 10 years of cognate experience.
Marine Officer II
Applicants should have:
- OND in Nautical Science
- OOW (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency
- Mandatory certificates
- Seafarers Medical Certificate
- Age between 22 and 35 years
Senior Marine Officer/Engineer
Applicants should have a Class 2 Certificate of Competency (Deck), Chief Mate Unlimited or 1st Mate Certificate, alongside the required mandatory certificates and Seafarers Medical Certificate.
Age requirement is 25 to 35 years.
Assistant Manager, Harbours
Applicants should have:
- Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Deck) Unlimited
- Mandatory certificates
- Seafarers Medical Certificate
- Age between 25 and 35 years
The ability to swim is also a prerequisite for the Pilot Trainee and Assistant Manager, Harbours positions.
