Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki

Outgoing Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has called on residents to support the incoming administration led by Senator Monday Okpebholo.

Obaseki emphasized that the backing of the people has been pivotal to his achievements, stating that while he is stepping down as governor, he will remain a part of the state.

He made these comments during a thanksgiving service and the dedication of the renovated Government House Chapel in Benin on Sunday.

“As the governor and a father figure to the state, I have been invited to share a message. My message is one of gratitude: dear heavenly Father, we come before you with thankful hearts for the blessings and progress in Edo State,” he said.

“As we transition to a new government, I urge you all, in God’s name, to extend your cooperation and support from my administration to the incoming one. Let us continue to collaborate for a brighter future for Edo State and Nigeria, as we have no other home.”

He noted that the chapel being dedicated will stand as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Edo people and the positive changes to come in the state.

Reflecting on his eight years in office, Obaseki expressed gratitude for God’s guidance and provision, as well as for the people’s prayers and commitment to the state’s advancement.

“To the people of Edo State, I sincerely thank you for your partnership and collaboration during our time in office. Your trust, encouragement, and enthusiasm have driven us to implement impactful projects and initiatives that have transformed our state,” he concluded.
