Wizkid Breaks Record As 'Joro' Achieves Milestone

After selling 500,000 copies in the US, Wizkid’s September 2019 single “Joro” is now eligible for an RIAA gold certification.

Since its debut, the record has been a hit in Nigeria and elsewhere, helping to spread Afrobeats throughout the world.

The song, which was produced by Northboi, has received 125 million Spotify plays and has received 290 million hits, making it one of the most viewed Afrobeats music videos on YouTube.

Wizkid’s record as the most certified Nigerian artist in the US is extended with “Joro,” which adds to his number of RIAA certifications.

Drake’s ‘One Dance’ featured the Grammy winner as a guest, making him the only Nigerian with a diamond record in the United States.

‘Essence’ with Tems and ‘Come Closer’ with Drake have earned Wizkid a 4X platinum plaque, which is another certification. ‘Soco’, ‘Mood’ with BNXN, ‘Call Me Everyday’ with Chris Brown, and ‘Brown Skin Girl’ with Beyonce and Saint Jhn have all earned the multi-award-winning star gold certificates.
