Yvonne Nelson is one of the most famous actresses from Ghana. She is also a model, an entrepreneur and film producer. She is a Fante with her hometown in Cape Coast. she was born in Accra on 12^th of November, 1985.

She started school in Accra at St. Martin De Porres School and from there to Aggrey Memorial Senior High School for her secondary education. Her tertiary education took place at Central Universty College where she studied for a degree in Human Resource management.

Career

She had her first lead role in the movie Princess Tyra and also shot about five more movies before heading to Nigeria for her first collaboration with Genevieve Nnaji in 2007. This launched her career fully in Nollywood and she has worked hard to make herself a household name in the movie industry.

In 2011, she produced her first movie titled “The Price” and the following year followed it up with “Single and married”. She won the Best Ghanaian Movie at the 2013 City People Awards and Best Picture at Ghana Movie Awards with “Single and Married”.

She in 2013 produced “House of Gold” and has also starred in so many other movies.

Yvonne Nelson in 2010 founded the Yvonne Nelson Glaucoma Foundation with the purpose of creating awareness about the disease. She recorded an all-star charity single and video in order to educate people about Glaucoma and she achieved this with support from other Ghana celebrities. She was honoured by GoWoman Magazine and Printex in 2013, for her film career and Glaucoma Foundation.

In recent times, Yvonne with support from other celebrities has turned an activist, protesting against the energy crises in Ghana. On May 16, 2015 she led a peaceful vigil dubbed “DumsorMustStop”.

There were speculations that the actress had secretly married her baby daddy but it seems unfounded. She however has a baby daddy named Jamie Roberts a British born photographer.
