Apply: LSETF Offers Up to ₦5 Million Business Loans for Lagos Entrepreneurs

Small business owners in Lagos can apply for the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) MSME Loan Programme, an initiative that provides affordable business loans to help entrepreneurs expand their operations, purchase equipment and create more jobs.

The programme offers loans ranging from ₦50,000 to ₦5 million at an annual interest rate of 9%, making it one of the financing options available to micro, small and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) in Lagos State. Applications are submitted entirely online, and the programme remains open throughout the year.

Unlike many commercial business loans, the LSETF MSME Loan Programme does not require applicants to provide collateral. Instead, successful applicants are expected to make a 5% equity contribution of the approved loan amount, while repayments are spread over 12 to 24 months, depending on the loan category.

The loan scheme is part of LSETF’s broader efforts to improve access to finance for entrepreneurs and support businesses that contribute to employment and economic growth in Lagos State.

What the Loan Covers

The LSETF MSME Loan Programme is designed for business owners who need funding to grow their businesses. Depending on the loan category and eligibility, the funds can be used to:

  • Expand an existing business.
  • Purchase business equipment and tools.
  • Increase inventory or stock.
  • Support daily business operations.
  • Create new jobs.
  • Improve business productivity.

Successful applicants may also have access to other business support initiatives offered by LSETF, including entrepreneurship programmes and capacity-building opportunities.

Here are some of the key features of the programme:

To be eligible, applicants must meet the programme’s requirements, which include:

  • A valid LASSRA ID.
  • A LIRS Tax ID.
  • A valid Bank Verification Number (BVN).
  • A government-issued means of identification.
  • A business operating in Lagos State.

Businesses applying under the SME category must also:

  • Be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
  • Have operated for at least one year.
  • Provide at least six months of corporate bank statements.

Applicants seeking a micro loan are required to provide:

  • Six months of personal bank statements.
  • Two recent passport photographs.

For the start-up loan category, applicants must possess a vocational training certificate issued by a Lagos State-recognised institution.

Why the LASSRA ID Is Important

One of the major requirements for the programme is a valid Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASSRA) ID.

Applicants who do not already have one are encouraged to complete their registration before starting the loan application process, as the ID is compulsory for all categories of the programme.

Tips Before You Apply

Before submitting your application, ensure that:

  • Your business information is accurate and up to date.
  • Your bank statements are complete and easy to read.
  • Your identification documents are valid.
  • Your CAC registration details, where applicable, are current.
  • You carefully review all information before submitting the online form.

Providing incorrect or incomplete information could delay the processing of your application.

How to Apply

Interested applicants can complete their application online by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official LSETF MSME Loan application portal.
  2. Select the loan category that best suits your business.
  3. Complete the online application form with the required details.
  4. Upload all requested documents.
  5. Review your application carefully before submitting it.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, meaning there is no fixed deadline. Eligible business owners can apply at any time once they meet the programme’s requirements.
