The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) has released an important update for applicants who successfully passed the Computer-Based Test (CBT) stage of its ongoing recruitment exercise.
The agency has listed 21 items and appearance requirements candidates should take note of ahead of the Basic Paramilitary Physical Screening.
The update was issued in response to questions from applicants about what they would need for the physical screening. A notice dated August 20, 2026, was signed by ACG Issaka Ahmed, Director of Human Resources, on behalf of the NAQS management.
NAQS advised successful applicants to make adequate preparations and ensure they have the required items before reporting for screening.
21 Things NAQS Applicants Should Take Note Of
Applicants who successfully passed the CBT stage should take note of the following requirements:
1. Passport photographs
Candidates are required to come with two passport photographs.
2. Medical fitness certificate
Applicants must provide a Certificate of Medical Fitness from a certified government hospital.
Candidates should bring the original certificate and three photocopies.
The notice also advises candidates to ensure they are free from malaria.
3. White shorts and T-shirts
Candidates should have two pairs of white shorts and round-neck T-shirts.
4. White trainers or sneakers
A pair of white trainers, canvas shoes or sneakers is required.
5. Pop socks or long socks
Applicants should bring pop socks or long socks.
6. Mosquito repellent and net
Candidates should prepare a mosquito repellent and mosquito net.
7. Laboratory cloth
A laboratory cloth is also included on the list.
8. Black and white socks
Applicants should have black socks for shoes and white socks for canvas shoes or sneakers.
9. Warm clothing
Candidates should bring warm clothing in overall black or dark green.
10. Complete cutlery set
Applicants are required to bring a complete set of cutlery, including a plate and spoons.
11. Writing materials
Candidates should have their writing materials available.
12. Waist pouch
A waist pouch is included among the required items.
13. Bed sheet and pillowcase
Applicants should bring a bed sheet and pillowcase.
14. Black trousers
Candidates should have a black trouser.
15. Blue jeans
A pair of blue jean trousers is also required.
NAQS Grooming Requirements
The agency has also outlined appearance and personal grooming requirements for candidates.
16. Clean-shaven face for males
Male applicants are expected to report with a clean-shaven face.
17. No hair attachments
Hair attachments are not permitted for male or female candidates.
18. Restrictions on jewellery
Candidates should not wear long dangling earrings, bangles or anklets.
The notice states that only pin earrings, wedding bands and wristwatches are allowed.
19. Nails and makeup
Applicants should not have long nails or brightly coloured nail polish.
Only minimal makeup is permitted.
20. No headphones or earbuds
Candidates are not permitted to wear headphones or earbuds during training drills or exercise routines.
21. Heating appliances are prohibited
Electric boiling rings and other forms of heating appliances are prohibited.
When Is the NAQS Physical Screening?
NAQS has not provided the physical screening date and venue in the notice containing the 21 requirements.
The agency said further information concerning the date, venue and other requirements would be communicated to applicants through their registered email addresses.
Candidates should therefore regularly check the email address they used during the NAQS recruitment application.
Important Advice for NAQS Applicants
Candidates who passed the CBT should not wait until the last minute before preparing the required items.
It is also important to rely on official NAQS communication for the screening date, venue and any additional instructions.
