The official Dangote IPO website advises investors to have a valid identification record, an active bank account and matching personal details before subscribing. Your information should be consistent across the records being used for the subscription process.

If you have never bought shares before, do not assume that you must already be an experienced investor. The official IPO website provides subscription routes for eligible investors, including electronic channels.

How Much Do Dangote Refinery Shares Cost?

Dangote Refinery shares are offered at ₦525 each.

The minimum subscription is 10 shares, which means you need at least ₦5,250 to submit the minimum application.

For example:

  • 10 shares = ₦5,250
  • 20 shares = ₦10,500
  • 50 shares = ₦26,250
  • 100 shares = ₦52,500
  • 500 shares = ₦262,500
  • 1,000 shares = ₦525,000

Your actual subscription amount will depend on the number of shares you choose to apply for.

Buying more shares does not mean you are guaranteed to receive all the shares you request. All applications are processed according to the terms of the public offer after the offer closes.

What You Need Before Applying

It is better to prepare your information before you begin the subscription process.

You should have:

  • Your BVN
  • An active bank account
  • Your correct personal details
  • The money required for the number of shares you want to subscribe for
  • Access to an approved subscription channel

The official Dangote IPO website specifically advises investors to check their BVN, bank account and personal information before subscribing.

Make sure the name and other details you provide are consistent with the records being used for your subscription. Differences in personal information can create problems during verification.

How to Submit Dangote Refinery Shares Subscription Application

Retail investors can submit their applications through an approved Receiving Agent or Electronic Application Channel.

Step 1: Visit the Official Dangote IPO Website

Start from the official Dangote Refinery public offer website.

Official subscription page: Dangote Refinery Share Subscription Page

This is important because there are already warnings about fraudulent websites, fake social media accounts and individuals claiming to be authorised to collect money for the IPO.

Do not use a link sent to you by a stranger when you can access the official website directly.

Step 2: Choose an Approved Subscription Channel

The official website provides a list of approved Receiving Agents and Electronic Application Channels.

These include participating banks, issuing houses, stockbrokers and other approved electronic channels. The official list currently includes banks such as Access Bank, Ecobank, Fidelity Bank, FirstBank, FCMB, GTCO, Stanbic IBTC, UBA, Wema Bank and Zenith Bank, among others.

You can also use the approved electronic channels available for the offer.

Important: Do not assume that every bank, fintech platform, investment app or stockbroker is automatically authorised to process the Dangote Refinery IPO. Check the name against the official list before proceeding.

Step 3: Enter Your BVN

During the subscription process, you will be required to enter your BVN for identity verification.

Enter your BVN only on the legitimate subscription platform you selected.

Do not send your BVN to someone on WhatsApp or social media simply because the person claims to be helping investors buy Dangote Refinery shares.

Step 4: Select the Number of Shares You Want

Choose the number of shares you want to subscribe for.

The minimum is 10 shares at ₦525 per share, giving a minimum subscription value of ₦5,250.

For instance, if you want to apply for 50 shares, your subscription value would be:

50 × ₦525 = ₦26,250

If you want 100 shares:

100 × ₦525 = ₦52,500

Only select an amount you are comfortable investing. Buying shares is an investment and the value can rise or fall after listing.

Step 5: Make Payment Through the Approved Channel

After selecting the number of shares, follow the payment instructions provided by your approved subscription channel.

Do not transfer your subscription money into an individual’s personal bank account.

The official Dangote IPO security guidance states that legitimate subscription payments should go through the approved channel and warns investors against requests to pay into personal accounts or mobile wallets belonging to individuals.

Step 6: Complete the Subscription

Follow the instructions on your selected platform until the application is fully submitted.

Do not stop immediately after making payment.

Make sure the platform confirms that your subscription has been submitted successfully and keep any reference number, receipt, confirmation page or other evidence provided to you.

The official subscription process is essentially:

Enter BVN → Select shares and pay → Receive confirmation.

How to Apply Through a Bank

Investors who prefer to use a bank can check whether their bank is among the approved Receiving Agents listed on the official Dangote IPO website.

Depending on the bank and the channels it supports, subscription may be available through options such as a banking app, website, USSD, branch or another approved channel.

The official Dangote IPO website lists several ways an approved partner may allow investors to subscribe, including app, web, USSD, POS, bank hall and ATM, although the options available can differ from one partner to another.

Therefore, do not assume that every bank offers every option.

Check your bank’s available Dangote IPO subscription channel and confirm it against the official approved list.

Do You Need a Stockbroker to Buy Dangote Refinery Shares?

The official IPO information provides multiple subscription routes, so investors should follow the approved channel that applies to them rather than assuming that a particular process is mandatory.

Stockbrokers are among the approved market participants listed for the offer.

If you already have an existing stockbroker or investment account, you can check with the broker to confirm whether it is participating in the offer and how it handles subscriptions.

If you are a first-time investor, read the official offer information carefully before submitting your application.

What Happens After You Submit Your Application?

This is one of the most important things to understand.

Submitting a subscription application does not automatically mean that you have been allotted all the shares you requested.

Your application is processed after the offer closes, according to the approved terms of the public offer.

The official Dangote IPO information explains the process as:

Read the offer → Get ready → Subscribe → Allotment → Become a shareholder if shares are allotted to you.

This means the confirmation you receive immediately after applying should not be confused with an allotment confirmation.

For example, if you apply for 100 shares, you should not assume that you have already received 100 shares simply because your subscription was successfully submitted.

The final allotment process takes place after the offer closes.

What Is Allotment?

Allotment is the process through which the shares applied for are allocated to investors after the public offer closes.

The exact allotment outcome depends on the approved terms of the offer and the number of valid applications received.

The official website currently lists the allotment date as to be confirmed, so investors should rely on official updates rather than social media claims about when allotment will take place.

What Happens If You Are Allotted the Shares?

If shares are allotted to you, you become a shareholder in Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE, subject to the terms governing the shares and applicable regulations.

The shares will be recorded against your investor account through the approved process.

The shares can later be traded after they are listed and become available for trading. The official IPO information says investors can contact a stockbroker to sell their shares once they are listed and available for trading.

The listing date for the Dangote Refinery shares has not yet been confirmed on the official IPO website.

Can Dangote Refinery Shares Lose Value?

Yes.

Buying the shares does not mean that you are guaranteed to make money.

Once shares are listed and begin trading, their market price can rise or fall. An investor could make a gain if the market price rises, but could also lose money if the price falls.

Dividends are also not guaranteed. Shareholders may receive dividends if they are declared, depending on the company’s performance, cash requirements and the decision of its Board.

For this reason, investors should not borrow money simply because they believe the shares will automatically increase in value.

Read the prospectus and understand the risks before investing.

Be Careful of Dangote IPO Scams

The popularity of the Dangote Refinery IPO also creates an opportunity for fraudsters to target people looking for information on how to buy the shares.

Be particularly careful if someone contacts you through WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram or another social platform and claims to be an IPO agent.

The official Dangote IPO website says:

  • Never share your PIN
  • Never share your password
  • Never share your OTP
  • Do not pay money into a personal bank account
  • Do not send subscription money to an individual’s mobile wallet
  • Check every subscription channel against the official approved list
  • Be cautious of cloned websites and fake social media accounts

A genuine person helping you with the subscription should not need your banking PIN, password or OTP.

If someone sends you a payment account through WhatsApp and asks you to transfer money there for Dangote Refinery shares, do not proceed until you have independently confirmed that the account belongs to an approved subscription channel.

Final Reminder Before You Subscribe

The Dangote Refinery public offer is open from September 14 to October 13, 2026, with shares priced at ₦525 each and a minimum subscription of 10 shares worth ₦5,250.

If you want to participate, use only the approved Receiving Agents or Electronic Application Channels listed on the official Dangote IPO website.

Most importantly, a successful subscription is not the same as an allotment. Keep your confirmation after applying, wait for the official allotment process and do not rely on unofficial messages claiming that you have received shares.

And before committing your money, read the offer documents and understand that the value of shares can go up or down.
