The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its recruitment process for Nigerians interested in serving as ad-hoc staff during the 2027 General Election.
The INECPRES recruitment exercise opened on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. and will close on Wednesday, November 18, 2026, at 12:00 midnight.
The recruitment covers positions including Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers and Registration Area Technical Support Staff (RATECHs).
INEC uses the INECPRES platform to register and engage eligible Nigerians for temporary election duties. The Commission’s election officials page confirms that ad-hoc personnel form part of the officials responsible for election activities.

Positions Available
INEC is recruiting for the following ad-hoc positions:

Eligibility for INEC Ad-Hoc Staff Recruitment
Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs)
The listed categories include:
- Federal public/civil service and MDA staff on Grade Level 10–14
- Eligible INEC staff, including RAOs and other staff not engaged in conflicting duties
- Serving NYSC corps members
- Former NYSC corps members who completed their service in 2024, 2025 or 2026
Qualified personnel from institutions including NYSC, NOA, NIMC and NPC are given priority where applicable.
Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers
The recruitment includes eligible students of federal and state tertiary institutions as well as qualified personnel from federal and state MDAs.
For tertiary institutions, the listed categories include students in the specified years of study, including penultimate-year students and students in Year 2 and Year 3, depending on the applicable category.
For MDAs, the listed requirement includes permanent staff with OND or NCE and the required grade level.
RAC Managers
The RAC Manager category is for eligible staff of schools or institutions hosting a Registration Area Centre or Super RAC.
Applicants must be:
- Head of the school or institution hosting the RAC; or
- Staff of the institution hosting the RAC
The listed grade requirement is GL 07 and above.
RATECHs
Registration Area Technical Support Staff are recruited from categories with relevant ICT or technical experience.
The listed categories include:
- Suitable INEC ICT staff who are not engaged in other duties
- IT students from federal and state tertiary institutions
- Former corps members in the Commission, where available

Is INEC Ad-Hoc Recruitment a Permanent Job?
No. The INECPRES exercise is for ad-hoc election duties and should not be confused with permanent employment with INEC.
