Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced plans to launch the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme (RHWDP), a new intervention initiative expected to provide monthly support to thousands of residents across Ogun State.
The governor disclosed this during the opening session of the 15th Synod of the Remo Anglican Diocese held at Our Saviour’s Anglican Church.
According to Abiodun, the programme is designed to strengthen grassroots support and improve economic opportunities for residents across different wards in the state.
He explained that between 50,000 and 100,000 beneficiaries are expected to receive monthly interventions under the scheme within the next one year.
Ogun Government Says Programme Will Support Grassroots Communities
Speaking during the event, the governor said the initiative forms part of his administration’s efforts to improve welfare and create opportunities for residents.
“Our administration remains committed to creating renewed opportunities for the economy, institutions, and the people of Ogun State,” Abiodun stated.
He added that the programme aligns with broader efforts aimed at improving living conditions and expanding support for vulnerable communities across the state.
Sagamu–Ode Lemo Road Reconstruction to Be Prioritised
The governor also announced plans to prioritise the reconstruction of the Sagamu–Ode Lemo Road, noting that infrastructure development remains important for economic growth and easier movement within the state.
According to him, improved road networks will support business activities, transportation, and community development.
Abiodun Speaks on Role of the Church and Peaceful Elections
During his address, Abiodun stressed the importance of collaboration between government and religious institutions, describing the Church as an important partner in promoting peace, justice, and responsible leadership.
He commended religious organisations for their contributions to education, healthcare, youth development, and community welfare.
“The Church has stood as a moral voice in society, defending justice, caring for the vulnerable, and encouraging leaders to govern with fairness and integrity,” the governor said.
Ahead of future elections, he also encouraged religious leaders to promote voter participation and responsible citizenship among members.
According to the governor, political activities in Ogun State have become more peaceful compared to previous years, including the ongoing primaries within the All Progressives Congress.
