The Bank of Industry (BOI) has officially opened applications for the Renewed Hope Rural Area Programme on Investment for Development (RAPID), a financing initiative designed to support micro and small businesses, rural entrepreneurs, cooperatives, and community groups across Nigeria.

The programme provides affordable loans of up to ₦10 million with an interest rate of just 5% per annum and a repayment period of up to three years, making it one of the low-interest funding opportunities currently available for eligible businesses and community projects.

For entrepreneurs seeking capital to expand their operations or community organisations looking to implement development projects, the RAPID Programme offers an opportunity to access financial support aimed at boosting local economies and creating sustainable employment.

About the BOI RAPID Programme

The Renewed Hope Rural Area Programme on Investment for Development (RAPID) is an initiative established by the Bank of Industry to strengthen economic activities in rural communities by improving access to affordable financing.

The programme focuses on supporting businesses and projects that can increase productivity, generate employment, improve community welfare, and contribute to long-term economic development.

Rather than targeting only large enterprises, RAPID is specifically designed to reach grassroots entrepreneurs and community-based organisations that often face difficulties obtaining loans from conventional financial institutions.

Why the Programme Is Important

One of the biggest obstacles facing many Nigerian entrepreneurs is access to affordable capital. Businesses in rural areas often struggle to secure financing due to high interest rates, strict collateral requirements, or limited access to financial institutions.

The RAPID Programme seeks to address these challenges by providing low-interest loans that enable beneficiaries to:

  • Expand existing businesses
  • Purchase equipment and productive assets
  • Increase production capacity
  • Create new employment opportunities
  • Support community development initiatives
  • Improve local economic activities

By directing investment into underserved communities, the programme aims to promote inclusive economic growth and strengthen rural livelihoods.

Who Can Apply?

Applications are open to eligible applicants, including:

Funding Details

Successful applicants may receive:

  • Loan amount: Up to ₦10 million
  • Interest rate: 5% per annum
  • Repayment period: Up to 3 years

The financing structure is intended to make borrowing more affordable while allowing beneficiaries sufficient time to repay the facility

Benefits of the RAPID Programme

Participants can benefit from several advantages, including:

  • Access to affordable financing
  • Support for business expansion
  • Increased productivity and operational efficiency
  • Job creation opportunities
  • Improved community development initiatives
  • Flexible repayment terms
  • Enhanced financial inclusion for rural enterprises

Objectives of the Programme

The Bank of Industry designed the RAPID Programme to:

  • Promote rural entrepreneurship and enterprise development
  • Improve access to finance for micro and small businesses
  • Support community-led development projects
  • Create sustainable employment opportunities
  • Strengthen local economies
  • Encourage inclusive and grassroots economic growth across Nigeria
