FG ₦50,000 Nano Grant Payment Resumes: Who Can Benefit from the BOI PCGS Programme?

The Federal Government has resumed the disbursement of the ₦50,000 Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme (PCGS), bringing fresh hope to thousands of small business owners who have been waiting for payment.

The programme, managed through the Bank of Industry (BOI), is part of the Federal Government’s support package for nano businesses. Beneficiaries receive a one-time grant of ₦50,000 to help strengthen their businesses without the burden of repayment.

The latest payment exercise is expected to reach more qualified beneficiaries whose applications were previously approved but had not yet been credited.

What is the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme?

The Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme (PCGS) was introduced by the Federal Government in December 2023 under the Presidential Palliative Programme.

Its main aim is to provide direct financial support to Nigeria’s smallest businesses, often called nano businesses. These are enterprises that operate on a very small scale, including roadside traders, market women, artisans, food vendors, tailors, hairdressers, mechanics, phone repairers and other self-employed Nigerians.

Each successful beneficiary receives ₦50,000 as a grant. Since it is a grant, the money does not have to be repaid.

The government plans to support one million nano businesses across the 774 local government areas of the country through the initiative.

BOI resumes ₦50,000 grant payment

Fresh payments have now resumed for beneficiaries under the scheme.

The development comes after earlier rounds of disbursement, during which thousands of qualified applicants received their grants while many others continued to wait.

With the latest payment cycle underway, eligible beneficiaries are advised to keep checking the bank account they used during registration for payment alerts.

Since disbursements are often processed in phases, not every successful applicant may receive payment on the same day.

How beneficiaries were selected

The selection process involved collaboration between the Federal Government and several stakeholders across the country.

Among those involved were:

  • State governments
  • The Bank of Industry (BOI)
  • The Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME)
  • Federal lawmakers
  • Other designated government officials

Beneficiaries were shortlisted using the eligibility criteria approved for the programme before payments were scheduled.

Who can benefit from the ₦50,000 grant?

The grant is targeted at owners of nano businesses operating across different sectors of the economy.

Typical beneficiaries include:

  • Petty traders
  • Food vendors
  • Tailors and fashion designers
  • Hairdressers and barbers
  • Shoemakers
  • Mechanics
  • Vulcanisers
  • Phone repair technicians
  • Local artisans
  • Small-scale service providers

The programme is intended to help these businesses purchase stock, expand operations or meet other immediate business needs.

Do you need to repay the money?

No.

The ₦50,000 support under the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme is not a loan.

Successful applicants receive the money as financial assistance from the Federal Government, meaning there is no repayment obligation.

What should applicants do now?

If you applied for the scheme and believe you met the eligibility requirements, there are a few things you should do:

  • Monitor the bank account submitted during registration.
  • Check your SMS and email regularly for any official notification.
  • Ignore anyone demanding money to “release” your grant.
  • Rely only on official communication regarding the programme.

Applicants who have not yet been credited should note that government intervention programmes are frequently paid in batches, so payment timing may differ among beneficiaries.
