Fireboy Reacts To Supposed Court Wedding

Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter Adedamola Adefolahan, also known as Fireboy, has turned to social media to respond to a viral court wedding photo of him with an Oyinbo lady.

In the video, Fireboy, the “Peru” hitmaker and first-class English Language graduate from Obafemi Awolowo University, can be seen enjoying a court wedding at the Federal Marriage Registry in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

Olamide’s YBNL signee was pictured standing with his supposed wife, an oyinbo lady, who was seen holding his hand securely by her side in a viral photo taken at the Ikoyi Registry.

In an interview with Apple Music Africa Now, Fireboy talks about his new album and working with Lagbaja and Seun Kuti.

The award-winning star stated that he couldn’t see Lagbaja’s face because he was wearing his signature mask during the recording session for their collaboration, “Back & Forth.”

Fireboy also mentioned that he wanted to collaborate with Nigerian music giants to provide nostalgia and depth to the record.

“That is a remarkable record right there. It means a lot to me to have a legend like Lagbaja on that record, especially given the current circumstances.

One significant theme throughout the album is nostalgia—listening to the album evokes a nostalgic emotion, so it’s only natural that I enlisted the support of my game’s legends to spread this message.

I knew right away that this record was exceptional, and I couldn’t wait for everyone to hear it.”

“You won’t believe this: [Lagbaja] was masked in the studio. It was crazy—I didn’t get to see his face.

“I had some interesting notions, and I wanted to ask him if I may see his face! But all that matters is that we created the music. That’s what defines Lagbaja.”

“You know, “Lagbaja,” where I’m from, in the Yoruba language, means “Mr. Nobody,” a nameless person, so it’s only natural that I don’t see his face.”

“I’m pleased he got to appear on the record—a special guy, a special musician, and a special record.”

Regarding his collaboration with Seun Kuti, Fireboy acknowledges YBNL label president Olamide and the album’s A&R with recommending Kuti for the single.
