Insecurity: Ignore mischief against cabinet members, Arewa elders tell Tinubu
A group of Northern leaders has urged President Bola Tinubu to disregard rumors and negative narratives aimed at some of his cabinet members.
In a recent statement, the elders emphasized that many ministers in Tinubu’s government have made significant strides in their roles within a short period, outperforming their predecessors from the All Progressives Congress.
Dr. Adamu Giwa, Secretary of the Northern Elders Political Development Group in the North-West, made it clear that the president should recognize these achievements rather than dismiss his cabinet members.
They highlighted the effective performance of key ministers, such as those overseeing Budget, Housing, and Defense, noting their contributions to national development.
“We have observed notable advancements in housing policies under Architect Ahmed Dangiwa’s leadership,” the statement read. “Minister of Budget Abubakar Atiku has shown a strong commitment to fiscal discipline and responsible budget implementation.”
Regarding security, the elders praised the ongoing efforts spearheaded by Minister of State for Defense Mohammed Bello Matawalle, which they noted have led to improved outcomes compared to previous administrations.
“The collaboration between the defense minister and Chief of Defense Staff General Christopher Musa in tackling insecurity is commendable,” they stated. “We are confident that initiatives like ‘Fansar Yamma’ in states such as Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kaduna will foster lasting peace in our region.”
They attributed recent successes in combating banditry, particularly in the North-West, to strong political will and effective coordination with federal support. “Replacing these dedicated and results-driven officials would create a leadership void in the country,” they cautioned.
The group condemned the propaganda and blackmail being directed at specific ministers by certain factions, asserting that such tactics will not succeed, and that the Tinubu administration will continue to thrive.
They expressed concern about the ongoing misinformation campaigns from opposition groups in the North-West, which aim to undermine military efforts. The elders encouraged Tinubu to persist in his fight against insecurity and to bolster support for the military and security forces in their mission to eliminate criminal activities in the region.
