Tinubu names new North West Development Commission management

President Bola Tinubu has put forward the names of seven individuals for the inaugural Governing Board of the North West Development Commission, seeking Senate approval for their confirmation.

The announcement was made on Saturday through a statement by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, titled “President Tinubu Appoints the Governing Board of the North West Development Commission.”

This development follows the President’s signing of the North West Development Commission Bill into law on July 24, a significant step in establishing the Commission.

Haruna Ginsau from Jigawa is nominated to serve as Chairman, while Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji from Kano is designated as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. The board will also include Dr. Yahaya Namahe (Sokoto), Aminu Suleiman (Kebbi), Tijani Kaura (Zamfara), Abdulkadir Usman (Kaduna), Muhammad Wudil (Kano), Shamsu Sule (Katsina), and Nasidi Ali (Jigawa).

Onanuga emphasized that these board members are expected to bring their extensive experience and skills to fulfill the Commission’s goals of advancing the North West region.

He highlighted that the NWDC will prioritize significant growth, economic empowerment, and social progress in the area. The President reiterated his strong commitment to fostering the NWDC’s mission aimed at achieving sustainable development in the North West.
