Lavish Destination Wedding Unites Chuck Nwapa and Nonye Ukoh in Italy

The Italian city of Lake Como played host to a grand white wedding celebration between Chuck Nwapa, son of Zenith Bank Executive Director Adaobi Nwapa, and Nonye Ukoh, daughter of Mazi Chukwu Francis Ukoh, a former Labour Party presidential aspirant.

The high-profile wedding, which reportedly cost several millions of naira, drew close family members, business associates, and select friends from Nigeria and abroad. A viral video from the event showcased a blend of luxury, elegance, and modern flair, with the couple celebrating their union against the scenic backdrop of Italy’s picturesque landscape.

The groom’s father, Dr. Ernest Nwapa, is a respected technocrat and pioneer Executive Secretary/CEO of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), while Chuck himself is said to be a successful entrepreneur, running an oil servicing firm and investing in major tech ventures such as Paystack and BlueChip, alongside prominent Nigerian investor Olumide Soyombo.

Guests were treated to multiple pre-wedding and post-wedding festivities spanning several days, reflecting the couple’s affluent background and sophisticated taste. According to reports, the celebrations included a welcome dinner, a luxury yacht party, and a traditional-themed evening where both families celebrated their shared heritage in grand fashion.

Despite the couple’s joyful celebration, the event has sparked a wave of mixed reactions online. While some social media users praised the couple’s success and class, others criticized what they described as “excessive display of wealth” amid Nigeria’s harsh economic realities.

One user on Nairaland commented, “The rich marrying the rich — people don’t know it’s a sin to be classist.” Others, however, defended the newlyweds, with one user writing, “He has his own oil servicing business, he’s a Paystack investor. What’s a destination wedding he can’t afford?”

Supporters of the couple argued that their wealth was legitimately earned and that they had every right to celebrate their love in style. “Not every wealthy person is politically exposed. Chuck made his money through business, not politics,” one commenter added.

Meanwhile, fashion and lifestyle blogs have lauded the wedding as one of the most talked-about Nigerian destination weddings of 2025, comparing it to the likes of Davido and Chioma’s and Mr. Eazi and Temi Otedola’s luxury ceremonies.

The bride, Nonye Ukoh, looked radiant in her designer wedding gown, while Chuck appeared dapper in a custom-tailored suit. Guests described the event as “a flawless blend of glamour, family, and cultural pride.”

As the newlyweds begin their marital journey, many well-wishers have taken to social media to congratulate them, expressing admiration for their elegance and wishing them lasting happiness.
