The disbursement, carried out through the Muslim Association of Nigeria Zakat Administration Programme (MANZAP), forms part of the association’s ongoing efforts to provide financial relief and economic empowerment to vulnerable Muslims and other deserving members of society.
The presentation ceremony took place at the association’s headquarters in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, where successful applicants received various forms of support after completing the programme’s screening and verification process.
According to the Chairman of MAN, Ibadan Branch, Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Abdul-Ganiy, the association has now distributed over ₦28 million to 340 beneficiaries since the initiative was launched in 2017.
He explained that the programme has continued to expand annually, providing assistance ranging from cash grants and business empowerment equipment to emergency welfare support for individuals facing financial hardship.
Speaking during the event, Abdul-Ganiy reaffirmed the association’s commitment to reducing poverty within communities through the proper administration of Zakat and Sadaqah.
“Our commitment remains unwavering. We will continue to strive to support members of the Ummah and other vulnerable groups in society,” he said.
Chairman of the MANZAP Management Committee, Alhaji Wahab Adisa Lateef, disclosed that 54 applications were received during the 2026 application exercise. Following a rigorous screening and interview process, 32 applicants were approved to receive grants and empowerment materials worth a combined ₦5,483,629.52.
He noted that this year’s exercise marks the 10th edition of the programme and reflects the association’s continued commitment to ensuring that Zakat contributions reach those who genuinely need support.
Beneficiaries who spoke after receiving their grants expressed appreciation to the association and donors, describing the assistance as timely and life-changing.
The Muslim Association of Nigeria also encouraged eligible Muslims to continue fulfilling their Zakat obligations, noting that increased contributions would enable the programme to support more vulnerable individuals during future disbursement exercises.
