The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) has commenced recruitment for qualified Nigerians seeking full-time employment in the agency.
The recruitment exercise covers vacancies in the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Assistant cadres, with opportunities available for graduates, OND/NCE holders, and candidates with SSCE, NECO or GCE qualifications.

What is NAQS and their Function in Nigeria ?
The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) is a Federal Government agency under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. It is responsible for protecting Nigeria’s agriculture, food supply, and environment from the introduction and spread of harmful pests, diseases, and contaminated agricultural products.
What Does NAQS Do?
The agency performs several key functions, including:
- Inspects imported and exported agricultural products to ensure they meet health and safety standards.
- Prevents the entry and spread of pests and diseases that could affect crops, livestock, fisheries, and forests.
- Issues phytosanitary and sanitary certificates required for the export of agricultural commodities.
- Carries out quarantine inspections at airports, seaports, land borders, and other entry and exit points.
- Monitors the movement of plants, animals, fish, seeds, and agricultural products within and outside Nigeria.
- Enforces quarantine laws and regulations to protect Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
- Supports international agricultural trade by ensuring Nigerian exports comply with the quarantine requirements of importing countries.
- Raises public awareness on biosecurity and the importance of preventing the spread of invasive pests and diseases.

The agency is recruiting into the following positions:
Superintendent Cadre
Chief Superintendent of Quarantine Cadre (CSQ) – CONMESS 2 (Veterinary Doctors)
Applicants must possess:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from a recognised institution.
- NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Deputy Superintendent of Quarantine (DSQ) – CONRAISS 08 (Law)
Applicants must possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Law or an MSc in another relevant field.
- NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Assistant Superintendent of Quarantine II (ASQ II) – CONRAISS 07
Applicants must possess:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised institution.
- NYSC discharge certificate.
Inspectorate Cadre
Inspector of Quarantine (IQ I – IQ III) – CONRAISS 05
Applicants must possess:
- OND or NCE from a recognised institution.
Assistant Cadre
Quarantine Assistant (QA I – QA III) – CONRAISS 04
Applicants must possess:
- SSCE, NECO or GCE O’Level with at least five credits in not more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics.
General Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be Nigerian by birth.
- Possess a valid National Identity Number (NIN).
- Be medically fit and present a certificate of fitness from a government hospital.
- Be willing to undergo a drug test.
- Be of good character and have no criminal conviction.
- Not belong to any secret cult or society.
- Be free from financial embarrassment.
- Be computer literate.
- Meet the minimum height requirement of 1.65 metres for males and 1.55 metres for females.
- Male applicants must have a minimum chest measurement of 0.87 metres.
The agency also stated that qualifications not presented during the recruitment process will not be accepted after appointment.
Physical Fitness Requirements
NAQS said applicants with certain physical conditions will not be considered because of the physical nature of the recruitment process.
These include severe visual impairment, hearing impairment, major physical deformities, limb amputations, obesity, and other medical conditions that may affect performance during training.
Pregnant women are also advised not to apply due to the physical demands of the recruitment exercise.

- Computer-Based Test (CBT) and Interviews: August 15, 2026
