Regina Daniels’ Family Gives Ned Nwoko 48-Hour Ultimatum to Accept Returned Bride Price
Tension has continued to rise between Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, as relatives of the actress from the Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta State have reportedly issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the lawmaker to accept the returned bride price paid for her during their traditional marriage.
The ultimatum was contained in an open letter signed by Favour Awele Obi on behalf of Regina’s family and kinsmen. The letter, which has since gone viral on social media, accused Senator Nwoko of disrespecting local customs and allegedly using his political influence to intimidate members of the actress’s family.
According to the letter, the community’s traditional laws grant a woman the right to leave her marriage if she so desires, provided her family returns the bride price paid by the husband. The letter stated that Regina’s family had made several attempts to refund the payment, but Senator Nwoko allegedly refused to accept it.
“If he continues to reject the refund,” the letter warned, “the bride price will be deposited at the Ikeleke Quarter in Ogwashi-Uku, which is the traditional process to signify the end of the union.”
The community also expressed concern over reports of alleged harassment and arrests of Regina’s relatives, calling such actions an affront to their customs. The letter urged the senator to uphold peace and tradition by accepting the refund and allowing the marriage to be formally dissolved in accordance with cultural practices.
The open letter was shared online by Regina’s brother, Sweezzy Daniels, and fellow actor Stanley Ontop, both of whom called for justice and the immediate release of family members allegedly detained at the senator’s orders.
The controversy follows earlier social media reports that Regina had accused her estranged husband of ordering the arrest of her siblings after she refused to reconcile with him. These allegations have fueled public debate about the couple’s high-profile marriage and the unfolding drama surrounding its possible collapse.
Regina Daniels, who rose to fame as a child actress, married Senator Nwoko in 2019 amid intense media attention and public criticism due to their wide age gap. The couple shares two sons, and while they had often appeared publicly as a united front, reports of internal discord have persisted over the years.
As of press time, Senator Nwoko has not issued any public statement in response to the letter or the allegations of intimidation. His social media pages and official channels remain silent on the matter, even as the story dominates discussions across major online platforms.
Public reactions to the ultimatum have been deeply divided. On online forums and social media platforms, opinions range from empathy for Regina’s situation to criticism of her earlier decision to marry the wealthy politician.
Some commentators have described the development as “the inevitable end of a union built on material allure rather than emotional compatibility.” Others argue that the senator’s refusal to accept the refund contradicts traditional values that respect a woman’s choice to end a marriage.
Meanwhile, a few voices have called for restraint and privacy, urging both families to handle the matter through mediation and traditional arbitration rather than through the media spotlight.
What began as one of Nollywood’s most glamorous unions now appears to be unraveling amid cultural, emotional, and legal complications. Whether Senator Nwoko will accept the bride price or challenge the community’s decision remains to be seen, but one thing is clear — the once-celebrated marriage between Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko now stands at a delicate crossroads.
