Skyewise Group Clarifies Ownership of Demolished Lekki Property, Denies Link to Ola of Lagos
Skyewise Group, a Nigerian conglomerate known for its operations in auto sales and servicing, has clarified that the recently demolished property along Lekki Expressway in Lagos belongs solely to the company, not to social media influencer and car reviewer, Ola of Lagos.
The clarification followed viral reports and online claims linking the demolished structure to Ola of Lagos after bulldozers pulled down several car lots along the busy Lekki corridor over the weekend.
In an official statement, Skyewise Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Elvis L. Abuyere, expressed sadness over the demolition, describing it as “a regrettable incident” connected to the Lagos State Government’s ongoing efforts to open up new access routes for waterway development.
“This unfortunate development affected several car dealerships and business premises along the Lekki Expressway, including our office located in Phase 1,” Dr. Abuyere said. “We are deeply saddened, but we remain optimistic and committed to rebuilding stronger and better.”
He explained that the demolished facility was fully owned by Skyewise Group, though part of the premises had been leased to Ola of Lagos for his car rental and display operations used in content creation.
“All necessary approvals, dealership licenses, environmental levies, and operational permits for the property were obtained from the Lagos State Government,” Abuyere emphasized. “Copies of these documents will be made public soon.”
The company said it is already working on plans to establish a new, improved showroom and corporate office in Lagos, reaffirming its commitment to continue operations despite the setback.
“We appreciate our customers, partners, and the general public for their messages of support during this difficult time. Skyewise Group has weathered challenges before, and we are confident that we will emerge stronger,” the statement concluded.
The demolition, part of a broader exercise affecting several businesses along the Lekki-Epe corridor, has continued to stir public debate over the Lagos State Government’s urban renewal policies, with many calling for clearer communication and fair compensation to affected business owners.
