Tiktoker Salo robbed, shot in Lagos

Opeyemi Afeez, popularly known as Salo

A TikTok creator known as Ojesanmi Afeez, or Salo, has reportedly been shot and robbed in the Lekki area of Lagos State. The news emerged late Thursday, shared by fellow TikToker Tunde Perry, who frequently collaborates with Salo during live streams.

According to Perry, Salo is currently in critical condition at Perez Medcare Hospital in Lekki Phase 2 after being shot in the leg by assailants who stole his gold chain. Perry stated, “Salo has been shot in the leg, and his gold chain was taken at a gas station in Lekki. Some guys rushed him to the hospital, and I’m on my way there now.”

A video circulating online shows Salo’s white AMG GLE 43 Mercedes Benz, which was left bloodied, with a bullet casing found on the driver’s seat. An anonymous eyewitness noted that Salo’s situation is dire, saying, “When I arrived at the hospital, I wasn’t allowed inside. The nurse told us to keep praying for him because he’s in a critical state. We don’t know who he might have upset, and he may not know either. It’s a reminder that you can’t outsmart everyone watching you. I just hope he takes care if he pulls through.”

Prior to the attack, Salo had posted a video pleading with his manager, known as Sula, for security personnel. He was seen urgently requesting, “Sula, please get me security. I should have had some. Help me with at least one mobile police officer, Sula, please.”

Salo had also recently clashed with another TikToker, Tobi Nation, regarding the latter’s new apartment purchase. Salo claimed to have connected Tobi with the real estate agent, but Tobi disputed this, stating he did not agree to the payment method proposed.

In response to the incident, Tobi Nation expressed his sorrow upon hearing the news and mentioned that he had visited the hospital but was denied entry.

Lagos State Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the shooting on Friday, stating, “Salo was indeed shot yesterday on Admiralty Way, Lekki. We have launched an investigation into the incident and will provide further updates as they become available.”
