WAEC Begins Shortlisting Applicants for Next Stage

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has started shortlisting qualified candidates for the next stage of its ongoing recruitment exercise.

Applicants who successfully submitted their applications are advised to log in to the WAEC recruitment portal to check their application status. Candidates should also monitor the email address they used during registration, as WAEC may send further communication regarding the recruitment process through email.

WAEC Recruitment Began in May and Closed in July 2026

The 2026 WAEC recruitment exercise officially commenced in May 2026, when the West African Examinations Council opened its recruitment portal and invited qualified Nigerians to apply for various vacancies across its departments.

Thousands of applicants submitted their applications before the recruitment portal closed in July 2026, marking the end of the application phase. Since then, applicants have been awaiting updates on the screening and selection process.

With shortlisted candidates now beginning to receive notifications on the recruitment portal, the exercise has officially moved into the next stage. Applicants are encouraged to check their recruitment dashboard regularly and monitor the email address used during registration for further instructions from WAEC.

The council is expected to communicate additional details, including information about the aptitude test and other stages of the recruitment process, through the contact details provided by successful candidates.

WAEC Shortlist Notification Begins

Information available to Zoeeb indicates that shortlisted applicants are now receiving a notification on their recruitment dashboard informing them that they have progressed to the next stage.

The notification reads:

“You have been advanced to the next stage of the application process. Kindly check later to provide more information. Kindly verify your availability to Aptitude Test by updating your active Email Address, Phone Number, and State of Residence. Please ensure that the information provided is accurate, as it will be used for subsequent communication regarding your application.”

This confirms that WAEC has commenced the screening process and is inviting qualified candidates to prepare for the next phase of the recruitment exercise.

What Shortlisted Candidates Should Do

If you have been shortlisted, WAEC advises you to:

  • Log in to your recruitment dashboard regularly.
  • Verify that your email address is active and correctly entered.
  • Confirm that your phone number is accurate and reachable.
  • Ensure your state of residence is correctly updated.
  • Continue checking the portal for further instructions regarding the aptitude test and other recruitment stages.

Providing accurate information is important, as WAEC will use these details for subsequent communication throughout the recruitment process.

Check Your WAEC Recruitment Dashboard

If you applied for the recruitment exercise, now is a good time to check your application status.

Simply log in to the WAEC recruitment portal using your registered credentials and review your dashboard for any new updates. You should also check your email inbox, including your spam or junk folder, for any notification from WAEC.

Applicants are encouraged to keep checking both the recruitment portal and their email regularly, as additional instructions may be released at any time.

If Your Status Has Not Changed

If you have not yet received a shortlist notification, there is no need to panic.

Recruitment exercises are often conducted in phases, and shortlisted candidates may be notified in batches. Continue monitoring your dashboard and email while waiting for further updates from WAEC.

Applicants should also be cautious of false shortlist messages circulating on social media and rely only on information published through the official WAEC recruitment portal.

Zoeeb Will Continue to Monitor the Recruitment Exercise

Zoeeb will continue to provide verified updates on the WAEC recruitment process, including information on the aptitude test, interview stage, and any subsequent announcements made by the examination body.

We congratulate all candidates who have been shortlisted and wish every applicant the very best as the recruitment exercise progresses.
