NANS Releases Names of 41 Schools Yet to Refund Students After NELFUND Paid Tuition Fees (See Full List)

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has released the names of 41 tertiary institutions it says are yet to refund students whose tuition fees were paid twice under the Federal Government’s student loan scheme.

According to the association, many of the affected students had already paid their school fees before the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) later sent tuition payments to the same institutions.

Instead of returning the money to the students, the schools are accused of keeping the extra payments.

NANS President, Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, said the list was made public to ensure that affected students get their refunds without unnecessary delay.

The latest development comes a few days after NELFUND disclosed that some institutions were being investigated over complaints that students had not received refunds after duplicate tuition payments.

The institutions named by NANS include universities, polytechnics and colleges of education from different parts of the country.

They are:

Students Asked to Remain Calm

NANS said publishing the list is part of efforts to promote transparency and ensure that affected students receive the money owed to them.

The association also expects the schools involved to refund the affected students as investigations continue.

NELFUND had earlier assured beneficiaries that complaints about duplicate tuition payments would be addressed and that institutions found responsible would be held accountable.
