Students Begin Confirming Receipt of NELFUND Upkeep Allowance as Payments Resume
Students under the Federal Government’s student loan scheme have started confirming that they are receiving their monthly upkeep allowance after months of waiting.
The latest confirmations came shortly after the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, announced that the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) had resumed the payment of upkeep allowances.

Several beneficiaries shared updates on social media, saying they had received payment alerts from the scheme. Their posts have given hope to many students who were still waiting for their allowances.
The confirmations also came after concerns over delayed payments, with many beneficiaries asking when the next disbursement would be made.
Although not every beneficiary has been paid, the growing number of payment confirmations suggests that the disbursement process has started again.
Students who have not received their upkeep allowance are advised to remain patient, as payments are expected to continue in batches.
NELFUND had earlier dismissed reports claiming that upkeep payments had been suspended for the 2025/2026 academic session, describing the information as false.
With fresh payment alerts now being reported by beneficiaries, many students are hopeful they will receive their own allowances in the coming days.

Some expressed relief after waiting for several months , while others encouraged fellow beneficiaries who are yet to receive payment to remain patient as the disbursement continues.
As of the time of filing this report, NELFUND has not announced the completion of the current payment cycle, suggesting that more beneficiaries may still receive their alerts.
