The Smart Aid Initiative has opened applications for the Women at the Front of Digital Space Fellowship, a six-week programme designed to equip young women in Kaduna State with practical digital skills, leadership experience and knowledge to safely navigate the online space.
The fellowship targets young women between the ages of 18 and 30, providing training on digital democracy, online safety, misinformation, digital advocacy and Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV).
Successful applicants will participate in virtual learning sessions, mentorship, peer learning activities and a two-day physical bootcamp before leading community knowledge-sharing sessions.
About the Fellowship
The Women at the Front of Digital Space Fellowship is organised by the Smart Aid Initiative to empower young women with the knowledge and practical skills needed to become responsible digital citizens and advocates within their communities.
The programme combines online learning with in-person training to ensure participants gain both theoretical understanding and practical experience.
At the end of the fellowship, participants are expected to transfer the knowledge gained by organising virtual step-down sessions for other young women.
Who Can Apply?
Applications are open to young women who meet the following requirements:
- Be between 18 and 30 years old.
- Reside in Kaduna State.
- Have an interest in digital rights, civic engagement and online safety.
- Be available to participate throughout the six-week programme.
- Be willing to organise a virtual step-down session after completing the fellowship.
The organisers have also encouraged persons with disabilities to apply and have stated that accessibility support will be provided for participants attending the physical bootcamp where necessary.
