Dr Sid Now Stays In The United States of America
Sydney Esiri, alias Dr Sid, a Nigerian singer, has confirmed his relocation to the United States of America. During a recent episode of the ‘No Man’s Friend’ podcast, the ‘Over The Moon’ hitmaker revealed that he fled Nigeria after landing a job in the United States.
“I now live in the United States. I left Nigeria last year after accepting a position with a New York-based company that offered me the opportunity to relocate to the United States and reside anywhere in the country.
“I have family in Houston, and my best friend resides here, so Houston, Texas was an easy decision. And that’s it. “I’ve been working here for the past year and a half,” he continued.
Dr. Sid rose to prominence in 2002 after joining Da Trybe and appearing on the Hip-hop song ‘Oya’ with Sasha, 2-Shotz, Timi, DEL, and the Trybesmen (Eldee, Kb, and Freestyle).
A year later, he dropped his debut solo single, ‘Don’t Stop.’ He then took a hiatus from music to finish his undergraduate degree and become a trained dentist.
He subsequently moved to the UK to collaborate with artists such as JJC and the 419 squad, Felix Duke, KAS, R70, D’prince, and D’Banj.
Dr Sid began making a studio album called ‘Prognosis’ in 2005, which included the track ‘Raise Da Roof’, but later abandoned the project.
Dr. Sid retired from dentistry after three years in 2007 to focus solely on his music career, signing with Don Jazzy’s Mo’ Hits Records. His debut solo studio album, ‘Turning Point’, was released in April 2010, featuring the notable tunes ‘Over The Moon’ and ‘Pop Something’.
