Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have successfully captured three individuals suspected of colluding with terrorist groups in Taraba State. This information was shared in a statement by Captain Olubodunde Oni, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, on Friday in Jalingo.

The operation, which occurred on October 15 in Landey Jessy village within the Lau Local Government Area, was executed with both precision and intelligence. Captain Oni explained that the successful apprehension of the suspects stemmed from actionable intelligence regarding the presence of bandits in the Kona Range of Mountains, an area that spans both Jalingo and Lau Local Government territories.

According to the statement, the troops conducted extensive operations in the vicinity based on the gathered intelligence. This led to the identification and subsequent arrest of three individuals whose identities have not been disclosed. During the interrogation process, one of the suspects revealed that his home was used as a storage location for weapons following criminal activities.

Additionally, it was noted that one of the apprehended individuals was recognized by a victim he had previously attempted to kidnap in Iware, located within the Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, back in September. The statement confirmed that all three suspects are currently in custody and are undergoing further investigation to uncover more information about their activities and possible connections to larger terrorist networks.

Captain Oni emphasized the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding citizens and maintaining the nation’s territorial integrity. He urged the public to continue supplying timely and reliable information to security agencies, highlighting the importance of community involvement in the fight against terrorism and various forms of insecurity plaguing the nation.

The arrest of these suspects reflects the military’s ongoing efforts to combat the rising threat of terrorism and banditry across the country. The 6 Brigade’s proactive approach in responding to intelligence reports demonstrates their dedication to ensuring safety and security in the region.

As the situation evolves, the Nigerian Army is focused on enhancing collaboration with local communities to gather intelligence and mobilize resources effectively. This partnership is crucial in dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace in areas affected by violence.

In conclusion, the successful operation in Taraba underscores the importance of intelligence-led actions in the fight against crime and terrorism. The Army’s call for public engagement in providing information serves as a reminder that combating insecurity is a collective responsibility that requires the cooperation of all citizens. By working hand-in-hand with security forces, communities can play a vital role in creating a safer environment for everyone.
