Chimamanda Adiche Set To Release First Book In Over A Decade
The much awaited “Dream Count,” the first book in ten years by the Nigerian-born, multi-award winning author Chimamanda Adichie, is scheduled for publication in 2019.
The book will be published by 4th Estate in the UK and Knopf in the US and Canada. It will be released on March 4, 2025, of the following year.
On Wednesday, Chimamanda shared her enthusiasm on her Instagram page, characterising DREAM COUNT as “serious and curious and probing and funny”.
She said, “Writing has been intense and demanding at the same time. I have a lot of enthusiasm for this book. I’m very happy I completed it. I’m really excited for my amazing fans to read it.
Dream Count, a children’s book by the author that departs from her most recent work, Mama’s Sleeping Scarf, invites readers to identify with the characters as it explores the deep love and sadness that women experience.
Four women who encounter the harsh truths of life in various ways are the subjects of this novel.
Chiamaka, a Nigerian travel writer residing in the U.S. during the pandemic, goes into her complicated history, recreating old romances and wondering what went wrong.
Betrayed, her best friend Zikora—a accomplished lawyer and devoted Catholic—is forced to seek assistance from an unexpected source.
Then there is Omelogor, Chiamaka’s cousin and a Nigerian financial magnate who, in spite of her prosperity, is plagued by persistent questions about her identity.
