The Federal Government has officially launched the Youth in Agribusiness Land Trust Fund (YiALTF) in Abuja, a landmark initiative designed to boost youth participation in agriculture, expand access to farmland, and modernise agribusiness across Nigeria.
Speaking at the launch, the Honourable Minister of Youth Development described the programme as a transformative platform aimed at empowering young Nigerians through a fully integrated support system that includes training, funding, mentorship, technology, and market access.
As part of the rollout, 10 young farmers received ₦1 million grants each to scale up their agribusiness ventures, marking the first phase of direct financial support under the scheme.
The programme is expected to deliver large-scale impact, including the conversion of 42 Youth Development Centres into agribusiness hubs, training of 6 million young Nigerians, and support for 500,000 youth-led agribusiness enterprises nationwide.
YiALTF is positioned not only as a land access initiative but also as a broader economic empowerment strategy aimed at creating jobs, strengthening food security, and promoting entrepreneurship among Nigerian youth.
Through the initiative, Youth Development Centres across the country will be transformed into fully equipped agribusiness hubs offering training, mentorship, modern farming technologies, business development support, and improved access to markets.
Overall, the programme represents a significant step toward repositioning agriculture as a key driver of youth employment and economic growth in Nigeria.
