The Federal Government has commissioned a new Automotive Training Centre of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) in Ebonyi State to provide practical skills training for young Nigerians and automotive practitioners.
The center was commissioned on September 18, 2026, by the Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh.
According to NADDC, the facility will provide training in areas including:
- Automotive technology
- Vehicle diagnostics
- Vehicle repairs and maintenance
- Automotive mechatronics
- Electronic vehicle systems
- Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) technology
- Electric vehicle technology
- Other emerging automotive technologies
The facility is expected to support both people starting careers in the automotive sector and existing technicians who need training in newer vehicle systems.

The center is expected to serve:
- Young Nigerians interested in automotive careers
- Automotive technicians and mechanics
- Artisans
- Students
- Automotive entrepreneurs
- Other practitioners in the automotive industry
The training is designed to provide practical knowledge that can be used in areas such as vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, technical services and automotive businesses.
Focus on CNG and Electric Vehicle Technology
The new center will also cover CNG and electric vehicle technology, reflecting changes in Nigeria’s automotive sector.
Training in these areas can help technicians understand newer vehicle systems, electronic components, diagnostics and other technologies that are becoming increasingly relevant to vehicle servicing.
No Training Application Portal Announced Yet
The commissioning announcement does not provide a general application portal, opening date or deadline for young Nigerians to register for training at the Ebonyi center.
Anyone interested should wait for an official NADDC announcement covering the training schedule, eligibility requirements and enrollment process.
Applicants should also avoid paying individuals or websites claiming to offer guaranteed admission into the program until NADDC publishes an official registration process.
The Ebonyi facility is part of NADDC’s plan to expand automotive training infrastructure across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
